Swift River Environmental Services is seeking a qualified Architectural Historian or a Historic Archaeologist with significant building experience to provide architectural management support for the Cultural Resources Management Program, under the direction of the Government Cultural Resources Manager (CRM). This support will be focused on the management of historic buildings and historic districts. Significant experience with conducting architectural documentation and consultation is necessary. Training and mentoring will be limited.
Architectural Resource Identification, Evaluation, and Documentation
This individual will also assist the Cultural Resource Manager with project review and technical advice regarding potential impacts to historic properties, assist in development of Scopes of Work (SOWs) for inventory, evaluation and mitigation projects, develop materials for education, interpretation and outreach to promote historic preservation, and assist in completing the backlog of cultural resource projects.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Architectural support functions shall be performed by person(s) who has a master's degree (MA or MS) from an accredited college or university in architectural history, art history, history, historic preservation, historic archaeology, cultural geography or closely related field. Must meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for Architectural History and/or History and/or Architecture. The contractor shall have professional experience in the field of historic preservation, with demonstrated technical knowledge and expertise in the preservation of properties eligible for or listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This includes knowledge, expertise, and skills in: relevant historic preservation practices, laws, regulations, and the Section 106 and 110 compliance process as they apply to undertakings and management of historic properties, especially the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties (Standards) and their application to historic districts and individual properties; oral and written communication (including demonstrated experience in professional compliance report writing); and computer data, word processing, and geospatial software, specifically the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook), and ArcGIS. Contractor must have at least one year of demonstrated technical report writing.
